Domains
Prove a Domain once with a DNS record so every Site under it works in every Product and environment, and see which Sites carry traffic.
Workspace settings > Domains is where you prove you control the names your Products run on. A Domain belongs to the workspace: one proof counts for every Product and every environment, with nothing to assign.
Before you start
- Only an Admin adds, verifies and removes a Domain. Members read the list without the DNS records.
- You need access to the Domain's DNS records.
Setting it up
- Choose Add domain and type the highest name you control in DNS, such as
acme.com. One proof covers every Site under it, soapp.acme.comanddocs.acme.comneed no Domain and no record of their own. The dialog shows the bare name it will save. - The new Domain appears under Pending verification, reading Pending, with the DNS
record: type
TXT, a name of_arcy-verify.followed by the Domain, and a value. Add it with your DNS provider. - Once the record has spread, press Verify. The Domain reads Verified from then on. Verify appears only on a pending Domain.
What one proof covers, where the check runs and how localhost is treated are on
Session security.
Hand it to your agent with the ARCY MCP, shown while a Product is selected, opens Add your domains on ARCY MCP: your coding agent reads your production domains and sign-in pages from your repository and proposes them as Proposed by your agent. Accept adds each one as Pending; you still publish its record and press Verify.
What it changes
- A Pending Domain admits no Site. A Verified one stays verified until you remove it.
- ARCY reads a Site, for a crawl, a Walkthrough or the Live preview, only under a verified
Domain. One exception: once per Product, it reads the site of the work email that created
the Workspace (that name or its
www) with no DNS proof, stopping at 50 pages (robots.txt). Reading it again needs its Domain verified. - A name already under a verified Domain is refused, and the message names the Domain that covers it. A name under a Domain that is only pending can still be added.
- Verifying a Domain removes every other Domain under it, pending or verified, and says which.
- No Plan limits how many Domains you add.
- Sites seen, last 30 days lists every Site under the Domain that carried sessions, busiest first, with the Product the traffic came from. Look into any Site you do not recognise.
- To change a name, remove the Domain and add the new one.
- Removing a pending Domain changes nothing for your Sites. Removing a verified one names the Products with traffic under it and asks you to type its name first.
Removing a verified Domain cannot be undone. No Site under it starts ARCY on any Product's primary environment until you add and verify the Domain again.
When it goes wrong
Verify says there is no matching record yet. The record's name or value differs from the one under Pending verification, or the record has not spread. Compare both character by character, wait for your DNS provider's propagation time, then press Verify again.
Verify says DNS did not answer. Your record may be right. Press Verify again in a minute.
A pending Domain shows a different value from the record you published. Pending values changed when Domains moved to the workspace. Put the value shown under Pending verification into your record. A verified Domain needs nothing.
